Karlstadt, a private collection is a unique project of Karel Chotek, a passionate collector and admirer of Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad). The collection is not only an expression of his love for the spa town, but also shows the historical, cultural and artistic heritage of Karlovy Vary and its surroundings. Visitors can admire porcelain, glass, objects made of aragonite and much more that the region has to offer.
The venue includes the first original Carlsbad shop, where customers can discover a wide range of authentic local products that reflect the rich history and traditions of the region. These include artistic porcelain by the Carlsbad artist Michal Špora and porcelain jewellery by Lenka Malíská and other talented artists from Carlsbad. In addition, traditional wafers, which are a popular local delicacy, will be available for purchase, as well as Becherovka and Mattoni water.
A major attraction for visitors will be the opportunity to buy original Carlsbad cosmetics and, above all, genuine spring water in a unique bottle that was made according to the original 19th century stoneware design. For lovers of good beer, a re-brewed Carlsbad beer (made according to the original recipe from 1892) containing “Weber Brau” spring water, which was traditionally brewed in the Rybáře district of the town, will be available.
Karlstadt is a fascinating place that connects the past and present of Carlsbad, offers authentic products of local artists and craftsmen and presents collectible gems of this amazing spa town. It is the perfect place for those who want to discover the richness and charm of Carlsbad and support local arts and craftspeople. And if you want to see the famous Crystal Globe, the main prize awarded at the KVIFF, or a life-size statue of a deer, be sure to visit.
