Jáchymov Museum

The exhibition Jáchymov in the Mirror of Time will make you acquainted with the history of the town, the geology and mineralogy of the Ore Mountains, archaeological funds from the Royal Mint House, ore mining in the 16th century extended by a new exposition if mining in the cellar, a large-sized moveable model of a mine, numismatics and minting. You will see the unique library of the Latin school in Jáchymov from the 16th century (books about mining and metallurgy by the natural scientist Georgius Agricola, specimens from the works by Pastor Johann Mathesius and the composer Nickel Hermann) and epitaph pictures. 

Get to know the ethnography of the Ore Mountains – agricultural machines, tools and historical photographs, a typical room of the Ore Mountains, folk costumes and the music of the Ore Mountains. A part of the exposition is also a documentation of the camps of political prisoners at the uranium mines in Jáchymov after the year 1950, the history of radon balneology and a period surgery in Jáchymov.
