Chlum Svaté Maří is a pilgrimage site that has attracted pilgrims from near and far for centuries.
Its origins date back to the last third of the 14th century, when it arose from a Gothic church built around a miraculous statue of the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus in a walnut shell. According to legend, the statue was discovered by a young apprentice, and no matter where he took it, it always returned to this place. At first, people built a wooden shelter over it, and later, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was established here.
In the museum circuit, you can visit a historical exhibition with a gallery, artistic artifacts, and sacred objects. There is also an underground section with a multimedia installation that maps the transformations of the pilgrimage site.
