The garden, covering an area of 12 hectares, was originally one of the most important historical collection gardens in Bohemia, focusing on rockeries and perennials. The original garden is the work of the chief castle gardener Jan Koditek, who designed and built this complex at the beginning of the 20th century with the significant support of Duke Jindřich Beaufort-Spontini and Count Arnošt Silva Tarouca of Průhonice.
